Originally from New Orleans, Rev. Mia achieved a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from Syracuse University. She earned a Master of Arts with a focus on Art and Public Policy at New York University. While acting and singing off Broadway, Rev. Mia answered her calling from God, and attended Union Theological Seminary in NY where she focused on preaching, ethics, and interreligious engagement.
Before joining the staff at MPBC, Rev. Mia served as a worship leader at First Corinthian Baptist in Harlem, NY. Later, Mia served on staff at Fort Washington Collegiate Church as Director of Children’s Ministries and as acting Associate Minister. When Mia is not working, she is playing the piano, composing music, taste-testing banana pudding, or cooking creole-cajun food.
