Youth Ministries

Youth Ministries - OverviewOur Vision and our Mission

Our mission is to inspire youth to uncover and utilize their spiritual, intellectual and creative gifts while embracing diversity and advancing an open and inclusive world.

We believe we are led by God's Spirit to encourage Christian maturity while advancing an open and inclusive world.  Thus we are committed to fostering the spiritual, intellectual, and leadership development of our youth, while helping them to uncover and utilize their creative gifts  to foster a truly welcoming environment. And we believe that our young people have value not only for what they will be and do in the future, but for who they are now for what they can contribute to the world today as young people on the Christian faith journey.

Our Theology

Because we believe God compels us, by word and deed, to proclaim the good news that there is new life in Christ; that God's love is unconditional; and that young people are equal partners in the community of faith whom the Holy Spirit can and does work through, our programs encourage youth to seek their spiritual and intellectual growth, while embracing their gifts and finding ways to positively impact their world.

Our Volunteers

Our volunteers are nurturing, committed and spiritually mature adults who are required to have a background check and go through training before interacting with our youth. We meet regularly to assess and review curriculum.  Fort Washington Church members who are interested are welcome to call for information about volunteer opportunities in Youth Ministries. If you are interested in volunteer please contact the church office.

Our Programs

Through our programs and activities for young people in grades 7 through 12, we seek to encourage a deep appreciation for human diversity, grace over judgment, and following Christ's example of loving one another.  Our programs and activities for youth in grades 7 through 12 are designed to encourage deeper inquiry into Christian identity, an openness to diversity, an intentional exploration of significant social issues and concerns, leadership skills development and a sense of one's gifts and of one's power to affect change at the personal and societal levels. Currently our youth programs are being restructured and will be rolling out in a new and exciting way in 2012!
