Primetimers

Our Exciting Ministry for Mature Adults!

A ministry to, through, and with mature adults at Fort Washington Collegiate Church, PrimeTimers provides opportunities for men and women in the Fort Washington Church family who are age 50 and over to participate in engaging activities that foster spiritual growth, healthy living, and provide opportunities for educational pursuits, outreach, and fellowship.

With this in mind, participants engage in a wide variety of programs and activities that allow for the development of lasting friendships, sharing of gifts, strengthening of faith, and continued spiritual nourishment integral to an active and vibrant life.

Inspiring, refreshing gatherings such as brunches, workshops, lectures, excursions, and outreach projects that minister to congregants and the larger community help participants of PrimeTimers to continue to grow in their faith as they serve their community and enrich their own lives.

If you are a mature adult, consider joining this exciting ministry.  The group meets once a month, from September to June.

RECENT EVENTS ...

ABRAHAM’S CHILDREN
UNDERSTANDING OF OUR MUSLIM – AMERICAN NEIGHBORS
Following worship on Sunday, March 18 we hosted a screening of the acclaimed documentary film Abraham’s Children, an up-front and close view of several adolescents and their families living in the New York metropolitan area.  The film reveals their lifestyles, goals, dreams and aspirations.  Admission was free, and a box lunch was provided after the film.  The film-maker, Nina Froriep, was on-hand to answer questions and lead an exciting conversation.  This event was co-sponsored by the Prime Timers and the Social Justice Ministry of the Fort Washington Collegiate Church.

THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS: THE EXHIBITION
AN OUTING SPONSORED BY PRIME TIMERS - MARCH 24, 2012
Contact the office to visit The Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit on March 24, a once-in-a-life time opportunity now on display for a limited time at Discovery Times Square, 226 West 44th Street.  In addition to the oldest known texts of the Bible, dating back over 2000 years, the exhibition features the largest collection of Holy Land artifacts ever assembled.  Tickets are $17.50 for seniors, $20 for all other adults, and $15.00 for students.   For those who are interested in having lunch, the group will venture to a reasonable eatery for good food and conversation after the event.  This event is sponsored by the Prime Timers, and is open to all!

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
