The Fort Washington Collegiate Church is a place of diversity, hospitality and grace. This means we open our doors to everyone and invite them to make this their spiritual home and to utilize their gifts in leadership regardless of race, sexual, orientation, or social and economic status. Our Hospitality Ministries serve to create a "welcoming" atmosphere for both our members and visitors alike, and invite all to "Come to Connect" so that they can "Stay to Belong." There are four main areas of service that comprise the Hospitality Ministry at Fort Washington Collegiate Church. We are here to serve you in the following ways:
• Greeters
• Ushers
• Communion Preparers and Servers
• Fellowship Hour Workers
Members of our Hospitality Ministries are vitally important to the Sunday morning worship service and the overall life of the church. Essential servants of the body of Christ, these servant leaders are more than the "doorkeepers, cooks, and servers." They are the "helping hands" of the church and an essential part of the welcoming presence that is needed to provide a safe, joy-filled and open space to encounter God's presence and experience a rich fellowship.
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
